Various NLU3A groups are actively looking for new members. Some operate face to face and some on Zoom. If you are interested, please contact the group co-ordinator concerned for more information. Details can be found on the Groups page of the website, or by clicking the group title.

New groups looking for members

Current Affairs group: If you might be interested in joining a new group on current affairs, please contact Henrietta Cohen at henanded@gmail.com. The group’s meeting day, time, venue and format will all be decided democratically once there is a nucleus of members.

The Out and About group: Want to get out and about with others, either during the week or at the weekend? Our idea is to plan, by e-mail group, any members’ suggestions for meet-ups: Sunday lunch, coffee mornings, cinema trips, visits to places of interest. If you have been wondering if NLU3A offers evening or weekend activities, for example, then this is definitely the group for you! Contact Denise Hopkins at hopkinsdenise0@gmail.com or Candiss Waldram  at scwaldram@yahoo.com

Theatre Visits group: The first outing of this new group will be on Thursday 4 April to see The Divine Mrs S at the Hampstead Theatre, the matinee performance at 2.30pm. This play is about Sarah Siddons, the most renowned female actor of her day. If you would like to know more about how to join, please contact either Sarah Wrightson at s.wrightson.highgate@btinternet.com or Helen Roberts at hroberts148@gmail.com.

Beginner’s Bridge group: If you are a beginner and you would like to try learning bridge, please contact Henrietta Cohen at henanded@gmail.com

Away Days and Further Away Days

Don’t forget that Away Days and Further Away Days are ‘open’ groups, meaning that you don’t need to be a member of the group to attend an event. However, if there is an outing which you would like to go on, you will need to register your interest each time with the group coordinator, together with payment for any entry charges, if these are required.

Further Away Day at Wimpole Hall estate: We will be visiting the Wimpole Hall Estate in Cambridgeshire on Monday 22 April. We will have a guided tour of the magnificent neo-classical mansion. We will be travelling by coach from East Finchley underground station, leaving at 9.30am. The cost for NLU3A members will be £30 for those who are also members of the National Trust, or £47 for those who are not NT members.

On the return trip, we will visit Royston, a pleasant little market town. The booking form will be available shortly. For more information contact Melvyn Rees at melvyn.tymel@gmail.com
