Ancestry

Have you been promising yourself to research into your family history, or to try to fill in the gaps that you were never able to get answers to in the past? Come and join Ancestry – some of us have been doing this for years, some dip in and out, and others are just cautiously starting out. We meet once a month on a Monday morning, not too early, and of course on Zoom.

New members are warmly welcomed.

Mindfulness

Experienced practitioner, Asha Phillips, will guide and introduce us to the many benefits of mindfulness to physical and mental well being. Shared techniques can reduce pain, anxiety and stress, enabling us to live more fully in the moment and build our sense of resilience, compassion and gratitude.

The group will be staying on zoom.

Pilates for Beginners

Improve your core strength and flexibility in a friendly and supportive environment, with the help of our professional teacher. Designed to introduce you to the exercises which you can either do very gently or push a little harder, if you are able. There is a charge for the term to cover the teaching. You are welcome to join us for a free trial.

Please contact Candiss Waldram, scwaldram@yahoo.com for information and help with using Zoom.

Italian – brush up your Italian

Have you studied Italian for a few years? Do you need a chance to use it before you lose it? We are a relaxed and informal group conversing at a fairly simple level, with the aim of becoming more confident and fluent over time.

Wine Appreciation

The Wine Appreciation Group meets on the second Thursday of the month at 10.30, normally finishing by 12 noon. Our regular venue is the Victoria Park Bowls & Croquet Club where there is plenty of parking.

Each meeting is themed on an area or style of wine. Each meeting begins with a short talk followed by a tasting of seven wines. Members may taste and spit, but mostly they choose to taste and swallow! The meeting is very social with chat throughout the tasting on a large range of subjects.

We like everyone to use the same type of glass, so new members will be expected to buy one on joining, from Laurence. We split the cost of the wine between us with the money being collected during the meeting. This is usually around £7. We always welcome new members. Please contact Laurence Hanison as shown above.
